Remnants Shawl - Body Done!

I finished up my Adventuresome Shawl last night, so I was also able to finish up the body of my Remnants Shawl night from the Night Sky Advent Set Remnants.  I also ordered a couple of different colors from the Sunshine Yarns site this weekend for the knit on edging.  Hopefully one of them will work.  I still need to find an edging to use.  I do have several already charted, but I might look for something new.

The colors are:
1.  Outer Space
2.  Black Hole
3.  Dark Nebula
4.  Asteroid
5.  Horizons
6.  Blue Moon
7.  Aurora Borealis
8.  Equinox
9.  Orbit
10.  Crater
11.  Ursa Major
12.  Galaxy
13.  Neutron
14.  Constellations
15.  Orion Nebula
16.  Pink Sky
17.  Star Cluster
18.  Starburst

Remnants Shawl - Thirteen Colors Done

As soon as I finish up with a skein on the Adventuresome Shawl I attach it to the tail of the previous skein on this shawl and knit it up.  I will confess that in some ways I'm liking this shawl better than the Adventuresome Shawl simply because it is letting the yarn be the star without any other distraction.  I was thinking of using the blue main color from the Adventuresome Shawl as a picot border (depending on how much I have left), but I may just leave it as it is - just a simple garter stitch boomerang shawl.  The stitches were getting a little crowded on the needle I was using, but finishing up the Sunshower Shawl freed up the Smart Stix needles.

The colors so far:
1.  Outer Space
2.  Black Hole
3.  Dark Nebula
4.  Asteroid
5.  Horizons
6.  Blue Moon
7.  Aurora Borealis
8.  Equinox
9.  Orbit
10.  Crater
11.  Ursa Major
12.  Galaxy
13.  Neutron

Remnants Shawl - Six Colors Done

As I finish up each section on the Adventuresome shawl I attach the remnant to this shawl and work it up as well.  The fun of this one is that it lets the yarn and the colors be the star.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do for finishing.  I thought about using the remnants from last year's advent shawl to work an edging, but I may work another boomerang shawl with it, just to see the color play again.  I have some time to decide.

Remnants Shawl - Cast On

Of course, once I started knitting my Adventuresome Wrap with my Sunshine Yarns set I had the problem of what to do with the leftovers.  I could just throw them in a bag, but then I would lose the order, so I decided to knit them up right away into another one of my simple garter stitch boomerang shawls.  I've knit up the first color and have actually started the second.  I think when I'm done with this set, I will take the leftovers from last year's set and do a knit on border.  The pattern is improvised.  I start out with 3 stitches and work a couple of rows where I increase without decreasing until I get to enough stitches where I can work both the increase and the decrease.  The basic pattern is as follows:

Right sides:  k2, (k, yo, k) into the next stitch, knit across to the last 4 stitches, k2tog, k2.
Wrong sides:  knit

Once I cast on, I work the right side row without the decrease until I have enough stitches to work the full pattern.
