Stellar Fade - Skein 20

My knitting mojo has been a little low lately.  I was looking through my WIPs and decided to pull this one out.  I finished knitting with Skein 20 of my Mad Scientist 2020 Advent Calendar, and have Skein 19 set to go.  Skein 20 was inspired by the star Trappist-1in the constellation of Aquarius.

And here is the card that goes with it.
I have already ordered my Mad Scientist 2021 Advent Calendar.

Cheri Chevron - Finished!

I actually finished up this shawl a week ago yesterday, on July 16.  This is my July Camp Loopy Project.  The requirement was stripes, and 600 yards.  I used 193 grams and 688 yards.  Blocking was relatively straight forward.

Sherbet Fizz - Finished!

So I wasn’t completely monogamous in my knitting on the Cheri Chevron Shawl. I finished up this shawl on July 5 over the long weekend.  I like the colors.  It is a bit on the smaller side, but that is what happens with only a single skein.  It was a fun knit.  Blocking wasn’t too hard.

Cheri Chevron - Half Way Point

I reached the half way point back on July 10.  I actually finished up the shawl last night.  From cast on to finished shawl in 14 days.  Amazing what monogamous knitting can accomplish.  I used a total of 194.4 grams.  I forgot to weight my skeins before I started knitting, so I had to weigh the shawl after I cast off to determine how much yarn I used and make sure that I had met the yardage requirements for the July Camp Loopy project.  I used 688 yards, so I easily made the requirement.

Cheri Chevron - Cast On!

It is July, which means there is another Camp Loopy project to cast on.  The theme this month is stripes, so I’m knitting the Cheri Chevron Shawl by Ambah O’Brien.  I’ve actually made a fair bit of progress since this photo was taken.  The yarn is Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere - positively Dreamy to knit with - in Gold Experience and Summer Sunrise.

Sherbet Fizz - Cast On

Last month Ambah O’Brien released a new pattern - Sherbet Fizz.  This is a fun, easy knit.  Garter stitch and the simple lace pattern that she used in the Caladenia Shawl.  I have some Knit Circus yarn cakes in my stash so I grabbed one of those.  I did make a couple of modifications to the shawl.  I can on 7 stitches instead of 6 and I mirrored the chart to make it symmetric.  As written, one side always has 1 less stitch than the other side.  I have done this on other Ambah patterns.  I honestly do not know why she does this when making it symmetric is so easy.

Omega Shawl - Cast On

On June 21 I started going back into the office.  Actually, I started going back in on June 22.  I have to work in the office three days a week now.  Originally I was going to do Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but I changed my days to Monday, Tuesday and Friday.  I don’t like being away from Jasmine, my 21 year old cat too many days in a row.  Working from home has been great from so many perspectives, but especially being able to look after Jasmine.  She had a pretty severe stroke a year ago and we didn’t think she would make it, but she did, and she is still going.  She hasn’t given up on life, so we haven’t given up on her.

Anyway, heading back in to the office meant that I needed a stupidly simple knit for my work bag.  This is the last skein of the Alcidina yarn in my stash, so it is fitting that this colorway is called Omega.  This is just a simple garter stitch boomerang shawl.  I am enjoying the colors.  I still need to decide on a border color, but there is plenty of time for that.
