Joy to the World - Cast On!

Last year I went a bit nuts on Advent Calendars and I bought one from Biscotte & Cie, a French Canadian Yarn Company.  At the end of July I was looking for another mindless project so I pulled it out and opened all of the drawers.  There were two patterns, a sock pattern and a shawl pattern.  The shawl pattern is a simple one, but the main color was white mohair, and I don’t do mohair, so I laid out all of the mini skeins and looked for something in my stash that would work.

These are the ten mini skeins.  I had two different colors to pick from, the Teal above and the orange/rust color in the picture below.  I went with the Teal.

Omega Shawl - Body Finished, Border Started

With the return to office three days a week I had to have a simple project for work knitting so I took this one and quickly finished up the body.  It then sat around with the border skein until last night.  I had finished up a clue on my test knit and it was too dark to take a photo and I needed something to knit so I grabbed this and started the border.  Unfortunately it was too dark to get a picture of the body before I started and I hadn’t taken one before.

Arrowhead Shawl - June, July & August Done!

With my left elbow feeling better I have been able to catch up on some other things as well.  This project took a back seat to a couple of other things (Camp Loopy, chiefly).  I had finished up June but never took a picture of it and never posted about it.  Last week I quickly knit up July and August.  The colors so far:

January - Modern fair isle
February- Tiny House
March - Manatee
April - Birkenstick
May - Coffee Grounds
June - Cold Drip
July - Rye Bourbon
August - Brick Dust

Tristan - Finished!

It has been a while.  I did finish my August Camp Loopy project with a couple of days to spare, but I wasn’t sure that I was going to make it.  After more than a year of working from home, I started going back into the office a couple of days a week on June 22 and the keyboard that I left there is not a good one and using it, even for a few days a week, gave me a repetitive stress injury in my left elbow, which was aggravated by knitting.  So I had to take some time off from knitting and when I did knit I limited the duration of my knitting sessions.  Thankfully with Delta we are not required to go in to the office anymore so my elbow has recovered.  I also have an ergonomic keyboard and a track ball for when I have to go back.  To complicate knitting matters I also had a test knit start up at the end of July competing for my limited knitting time.

The pattern called for a ribbed border by I didn’t want to knit the ribbing.  It pulls in the rest of the shrug and foils the drape so I replaced it with a simple lace pattern (yo, k2tog) and used a contrast color - Safran.
