Arrowhead Shawl - Finished!

I finished this shawl up on January 24.  I am very pleased with how it came out.  I used up all of the yarn and really like the design element.  Once I finished the lace chart, I picked up stitches along the cast on edge and started working with the remaining yarn, working decreases at the beginning and end of the right side rows and increases on either side of the purl column.  I did a combination of knit rows and purl rows, just making it up as I went along, and also did two rows of eyelets, just for some variety.  Blocking was a little bit of challenge, mostly just making sure (as much as possible) that lines were straight.

Arrowhead Shawl - September, October, November & December Done!

It has been a while since I posted about this shawl, but I have been working on it, using it as filler, so to speak.  Last night I finished up with the December color, but I decided not to stop there.  I had been thinking about modifying the shawl for a while as I wanted more length and I wasn’t super crazy about the two points on the one side.  So, last night, after finishing the last row instead of binding off I cast on more stitches, the same number of stitches that I already had on my needle, plus two, and then I joined to knit in the round.  I will have a diamond with purl stitch spines on the quarters, which will give me another point on this end to mirror the point of the cast on end.  I found a nice lace pattern in Melissa Leapman’s Knitting Modular book and charted it up in Stitchmastery.  I will work the diamond using up my yarn in reverse order and, assuming I still have leftover yarn when I get done with the diamond, I will pick up stitches on my knitted cast on and knit some more rows to use up what ever is left.

Arrowhead Shawl - June, July & August Done!

With my left elbow feeling better I have been able to catch up on some other things as well.  This project took a back seat to a couple of other things (Camp Loopy, chiefly).  I had finished up June but never took a picture of it and never posted about it.  Last week I quickly knit up July and August.  The colors so far:

January - Modern fair isle
February- Tiny House
March - Manatee
April - Birkenstick
May - Coffee Grounds

August - Brick Dust

Arrowhead Shawl - May Done

And here is May.  It is important not to overthink the pattern on this one.  I just do what the card says.  This one was a bit different, so for a second I wondered if it was correct, and then I reminded myself to not overthink it and just go with it.  Now I am all caught up on this project and can focus on some others that I have fallen behind on.

The colors so far:

January - Modern fair isle
February- Tiny House
March - Manatee
April - Birkenstick
May - Coffee Grounds

Arrowhead Shawl - April Done

I did fall behind on my Arrowhead Shawl, but this past weekend I pulled it out and finished up April.  I am almost done with May.  This is some nice easy knitting, perfect after a hard day at the home office.

I’m not usually a fan of neutral colors, but I’m enjoying this.  The colors thus far:

February- Tiny House

Arrowhead Shawl - Month Three Done

I also knit up month three of my Arrowhead Shawl this past Friday.  I took off early from work, having worked late Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so I had a nice relaxing afternoon knitting and reading.  I wasn’t sure about the color this month, it is very close to the color from last month and I wondered if there had been a mistake, but looking at the pictures on the pattern card, that is the way it is supposed to be.  I have been working my ends in as I go so I won’t have much to weave in when I’m done.

Arrowhead Shawl - Month Two Done

My February yarn arrived last week, so I spent yesterday during some meetings and this morning to knit up the second section.  I don’t usually go for the more neutral colors, but I’m liking this so far.

Arrowhead Shawl - Cast On & Month One Done

Sometime around the beginning of the month I also cast on my Jimmy Beans Shawl of the Month Club Shawl.  I was feeling a need for a simple project and this one filled the bill, and having recently finished the shawl from last year, I had a set of needles that were the right size with nothing on them.  I’ve done these shawls for the past two years, but I have always waited until I have all of the yarn and then I blast the shawl out in a few weeks.  This year I decided to try a different approach - to work the shawl each month, as the yarn comes.  So, here is the first month.  A nice simple pattern, although some folks were apparently over-thinking it and got themselves confused.

I chose ChiWei’s Choice for my color palette.  The first color is Modern Fair Isle.
