Wallflowers - Pebbles Done & Incorporated!

The Pebble flowers worked up fairly quickly, and went into the Garlands easily.
The shape of the central portion of the blanket is starting to emerge as the insertion of the Pebble flowers pulls the inner edges of the Garlands together.  Now I start the large 3D flowers.  There are six of those and they begin to fill in and further define the blanket center.  It is hard to get a good picture that shows the colors, but I managed to take one on the deck of one of the Garlands that begins to do justice to the colors.

Joy to the World - Cindy - Cast On!

Having finished up the body of my Grinch version of this shawl, I had to pack another mindless project for my work bag so I caked up all the skeins for this shawl yesterday afternoon and cast on today.
I will be using the mini-skeins from right to left.

Joy to the World - Grinch - Body Done!

Yesterday I finished up the third triangle.  Because I was using up each mini-skein before starting the next I was able to do the entire third triangle in the mini-skeins.  I had about two yards left over.  Pretty good.  I’ve joined the triangles, this time working the three-needle bind-off on the wrong side, and I’ve also picked up stitches along the edge that is at the top in the picture, so I can’t spread it out completely.

Wallflowers - Small 3D Flowers Done!

The small 3D flowers worked up fairly quickly, and there were only fourteen of them to make.  They also went in to the garlands fairly quickly.  I did one last night, and one this morning.  Now I’ve started on the next part - Pebbles.
I have to make 30 of these, in three different colorways.  These are the colors:
From right to left they are:  L3, F3, F4, F5, and F6.  The first color way is L3, F3 and F4, the second colorway is L3, F4 and F5, and the third color way is L3, F4 and F6.  The first two rounds will be the same in all three colorways, only the third round changes.  Once I finish making all of them I turn them into hexi’s with B7 and join them to the garlands.

Wallflowers - Two Garlands Done!

Well, not quite done.  I still have the center holes to fill with the small 3-D flowers, of which you can see one.  But both garlands are assembled and all of the ends have been woven in.  I am almost half-way done with the small 3-D flowers.
I love my Della-Q train case.  My elements are in the tray, along with my tools (my darning needle is secured by a magnet on the inside of the lid).  And my yarn is down below, in the order that I use it for each flower.
I realized that I never shared a photo of the tray filled with popcorns.
At this point I had already started the garland assembly, so I don’t have the full complement.  I did find several popcorns that only had 11, as opposed to 12, petals but I was able to cannibalize the original garland, with the original background colors, to get the ones I needed to replace the defective ones.

Wallflowers - One Garland Done!

After I took the photo of the in-progress garland yesterday I realized that I had a mistake in the hexagrams with the darkest color as the background.  Instead of grabbing the third popcorn colorway I had used the first.  I had made notes on the garland page to avoid just such an error, but I guess you have to actually pay attention to those notes.  I still have lots of ends to weave in.  I learned the hard way about weaving in ends too early.  Once I weave in the ends it will be on to the second garland.  I’ve already looked ahead to the flowers that fill the holes - downloading the PDFs that go with the videos - but I haven’t watched the videos yet.

Electric Oogie Boogie Shawl - Finished!

I had gotten very close to finishing the border (10 repeats left) when I got sucked into creating Popcorns for my Wallflowers, so this shawl went on the back burner for a bit, but with the progress that I’ve made on the Grinch shawl I knew that I needed to get this one off the needles.  So last week I focused on it and finished it up Saturday morning and blocked it.
I have one more shawl from this Advent set to finish up, the Lock, Shock & Barrel Shawl.  I have picked a border color and have two bead color options to decide between.

Wallflowers - Garlands Started!

When I finished half of the third colorway of popcorns I went ahead and started assembling a garland with my original background color choices (the bottom garland).  But as you can see, I got part way through and decided that I really didn’t like the background colors, they were just too blah.  So I pulled out my color cards and looked for some colors to jazz things up.  I knew that of the three neutrals I was using I wanted to keep the Mineral and get rid of the Cumin and Camel, so I needed two new colors to replace them.  I decided to go with Rage and Pink Bliss, putting them as my B2 and B3 respectively and shifting the other colors down.  This gives my Iolite in place of Camel and Candy Floss in place of Cumin.  I definitely like the garland better.

Here are my original color choices:

And here are my new color choices:
I ordered more yarn and also got replacement balls to make up for the yarn that I’ve already used.  I did not cannibalize the original garland, and had to make more popcorns to replace the ones that I had used, plus finish the 46 I needed in the third colorway.  All the popcorns are finished, but I did find one that only had 11 popcorns when I was assembling the garland, so I will need to make another one to replace it.

Joy to the World - Grinch - Two Triangles Done and Third Triangle Started!

I’ve been getting lots of knitting done at work, and finished up the second triangle and cast on the third.  The third is easy because I just use the colors in reverse order and use the rest of each mini-skein before joining the next.  I do love the colors and how they are working up.
