Unique Sheep Bright & Bold Advent Calendar - Days 6 - 11

I have also been very neglectful of The Unique Sheep Bright & Bold Advent Calendar.  I did receive the neutral skeins that I ordered, so now I have the fun of searching for patterns.  I have some ideas, but haven't quite settled yet.  The colors (which are always better in real life) so far are:

1.  Sapphire
2.  Salt Water Blueberries
3.  Tart Heart
4.  Salt Water Strawberries
5.  Sun Porch
6.  Salt Water Bananas
7 - 11.  Compassion Ombre

Arctic Flow Capelet - Off the Blocking mats

What a difference blocking makes.  For comparison, here is the before blocking picture on my dress maker dummy.

Craftvent 2017 - Days 8-11

I've also been very neglectful of my Jimmy Beans Craftvent calendar.  I've been opening the drawers, but not much else.  The Day 8 drawer revealed the next color of yarn.  This is Dream in Color Smooshy and is for section 2 of the pattern, but I haven't finished section 1 yet, although I did work on it some yesterday after finishing my Adventurous Wrap.
The Day 9 drawer revealed two sets of stitch stoppers.  I've never used these before, but will have to try them out.
The Day 10 drawer revealed Washi tape, for marking your place on your printed out pattern.  I so rarely print patterns anymore now that I mostly work in knitCompanion.
The Day 11 drawer revealed the next mini-skein of yarn.  Manos del Uruguay Alegria.  I guess I need to get knitting on this pattern.

Adventurous Wrap - One Triangle Done

Actually, the entire shawl is done, finished up yesterday, and is currently blocking.  I've been bad about posting because all I've been doing for the past week is knitting this wrap.  Despite being garter stitch, it is strangely addictive - due to the color changes, I believe.  I finished up this triangle on Friday, and whipped out the second one in two days.  The entire wrap took me five days.  It helped that I was home from work most of last week with a wicked cold.

Pattern:  Adventurous Wrap by Ambah O'Brien
Yarn:  Zen Yarn Garden Superfine Fingering - Magical Dye Pot F-series
Needle:  US 5 (3.75 mm)

Craftvent 2017 - Day 6 & Day 7

The Day 6 drawer revealed an adorable row counter.  I bought the larger version of this row counter (it comes in red) when I first started knitting 17 years ago.  I was knitting on straight needles using inexpensive craft store yarn and I put the counter on one of my needles.  I prefer the Clover row counters these days, and have a lot of them.
The Day 7 drawer revealed a cute set of collapsible scissors.  One can never have too many sets of scissors, and this seems a very practical set.  Compact and functional.

Adventurous Wrap - Surfing the fade wave

I've started using the colors in the reverse order now, this will keep the fade going.  This is how I will be using my skeins:

F6 - C1, C11
F5 - C2, C10, C12
F3 - C3, C9, C13
F4 - C4, C8
F2 - C5, C7
F1 - C6

I'll work both triangles the same way.  I actually tried working it with a straight repeat of the skeins in the original order, but realized it just wasn't going to work - it was introducing a color step-function into my continuous fade wave - so I ripped back.

The Unique Sheep Bright & Bold Advent Calendar Days 4 & 5

Here are the first 4 skeins all together, plus an adorable little snowflake that came with the day 4 box.  So far we have 2 solids and 2 speckles.
And Day 5, another solid in a very vibrant yellow.
